Activision bought Digital Legends to work on a new mobile game

Activision has acquired Barcelona-based game developer Digital Legends, known for his work on the Respawnables series, to work on the new Call of Duty mobile game. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

This is stated in a statement by the President of Activision Rob Kostich. “This is a big step forward as we continue to create additional world-class development resources aimed at creating exciting and innovative content for our players.”

Activision Mobile boss Chris Plummer added: “Digital Legends has no equal in the development of high-end mobile games.”

Plummer added that Digital Legends has been working together for “most” of 2021 already. “We are building a roster of world-class mobile talent and development teams and we look forward to seeing what comes next.”

Digital Legends CEO Xavier Carrillo-Costa added: “We are thrilled to have the opportunity to work on one of the greatest franchises in the world.”

The unannounced new game Call of Duty, being developed by Digital Legends, is being co-created with other Activision studios such as Solid State, Beenox and Activision Shanghai.

Very little is known about the new Call of Duty mobile game. Activision already has Call of Duty Mobile, a multiplayer battle royale game with over 500 million downloads. Mobile is one of the three main pillars of Activision’s Call of Duty business, along with Warzone and annual premium new games like Call of Duty: Vanguard this year.
