Casper returns to the screens in a new, darker version

Casper returns to screens as media reports say the friendly ghost will be getting a series on streaming service Peacock that is said to give a “darker” direction to this family tale.

Kai Wu (Ghost Bride) is the writer and executive producer of the new version.

The friendly ghost Casper returns to TV in a brand new incarnation, reminiscent of Riverdale’s dark interpretation of Archie’s comics. The series will reimagine Casper’s origins in a coming-of-age story that explores what it means to be alive.

When a new family arrives in the small town of Eternal Falls, Casper becomes embroiled in a mystery that reveals dark secrets that have been buried for over 100 years.

Created by Seymour Reith and Joe Oriolo, the cartoon character Casper hit the big screen in 1995, followed by two sequels.
