Cheaters have reportedly started using a new exploit to corrupt Elden Ring PC players’ save files and put them into endless death loops. There is no official fix for the exploit at the moment, but players have shared possible solutions. However, there is no 100% guarantee that these workarounds will work.
According to The Verge, Twitter user @EldenRingUpdate details how the hackers use this exploit. The tweet reads: “First it crashes the game and when you open it again your character will constantly crash and die.” FromSoftware and Bandai Namco have yet to comment on the exploit. It is also noted that another game from FromSoftware and Bandai Namco – Dark Souls III – previously encountered the same problem.
The Verge article mentions a possible workaround that can be find on reddit. However, be warned that this technique does not always work. One Elden Ring player reportedly lost 100 hours of play without finding a fix for the exploit. Potential solutions for those affected by the hack:
- Every time the game loads, you will have a second before your “death” and you must use it to press Alt + F4. This will close the game and give you more time when you log back in to open the map.
- When you re-enter the game, open the map using the key to which it is bound, press the button that opens the list of available places of grace and press the confirm button.
The user is also advised to give up intrusions for a while or just play offline until a fix is released. Players are also advised to back up their saves to avoid further exploit headaches.
