During today’s Nintendo Direct, nintendo and Square Enix announced the release Chrono Cross Remaster – similar to what we’ve already seen with re-releases of the series final fantasy. The remaster should also look at the PC in Steam.
A game that can be pre-ordered today via Nintendo eShop, will be released on consoles on April 7th. In the game, it will be possible to turn off meetings with enemies, as well as play the part of the same name Radical Dreamers – a side story that connects Chrono Cross and Chrono Trigger. Until now, we haven’t been able to play this game outside of the SNES adaptation, which was only available in Japan. So this is a great reason to get back to the game!
The announcement of this remaster is linked to an old post from March 2021 in which Forever Entertainment announced that she would work with Square Enix over remakes of “several” games. The company noted at the time that these games would all be from the same “brand” owned by the publisher. Does this mean there will be more Chrono Content in the future?
According to the report, projects Forever Entertainment will have a “new graphic design” but retain the same “gameplay and scenario” as the originals – and that seems pretty much in line with what we’ve seen tonight.
If you’re wondering where else the developer has been flexing his remaster muscles, you may be familiar with his work on the Panzer Dragoon remaster for Switch.
