Cross-play with Steam will appear in the Epic Games Store

Epic Games has unveiled a new free developer tool to help ensure crossplay support across platforms.

As the developers explained, the system works as follows: using the Epic Online Services overlay, users of both platforms will be able to be on the same list, from where they can invite each other to game sessions.

At the same time, users of the Valve platform will be able to acquire their own EGS account created under the Steam account, and if they wish, they will be able to add relevant information to the profile.

Epic Games noted that in the future they are going to add support for other stores for potential crossplay, including mobile platforms, consoles, the MacOS ecosystem, and even Linux.
