Daniel Espinosa was not only inspired by Pokemon to create the appearance of the supervillain Morbius, but also thought about how to fit his main enemy, Spider-Man, into his film. Hints of the appearance of a friendly neighbor have appeared for a long time – from the first trailers of the picture – but now the director himself has commented on the rumors.
“We have a world where there are the same characters, and they are the same characters, but they are slightly different. Each of the Marvel Universes has a kind of spider totem. This means that in all these universes there must be a Spider-Man. Or… Spider Woman,” hints Espinosa in an interview with CinemaBlend.
It looks like a spidery superhero will indeed appear in Morbius, but whether it will be completely new or old characters will return is an open question. On the posters behind Morbius in the debut trailers, the Spidey costume flashed, only now he did not refer to Tom Holland, but … to the very Sam Raimi trilogy.
Was Tobey Maguire persuaded to come back again? We will get an answer to an intriguing question already on the first of April.
