Elden Ring release date revealed

A new teaser trailer for Elden Ring is finally out and has a surprising amount of gameplay. In a stunning turn of events after it’s been so long, Bandai Namco and FromSoftware have released a new video as part of the Game Fest summer kick-off show. The video concludes with a release date of January 21, 2022. Yes, Elden Ring will come out sooner than any of us expected, and it will have some kind of multiplayer component.

The trailer featured a lot more acrobatic combat than we’re used to in the Souls or Bloodborne series, with characters jumping into the air and slamming with their swords, dealing massive damage. There will be a mixture of sword, magic and gadgets, as we saw in Sekiro, but the huge bosses seem to be more reminiscent of the earlier From games. It turned out that one boss is made up of multiple corpses, which is the go-to from FromSoftware that seems to infiltrate almost every game the studio touches.

There will also be equestrian combat, which we haven’t seen in the studio’s other games, and FromSoftware has previously stated that it will have a more open structure than its past games, but the walking pots and other grotesque creatures make it very clear that this is still in deep in my soul.

It also looks like there will be more co-op elements than past From Software games, although it’s unclear if this will just be a spirit-based form we’re familiar with or something more substantial. (The press release mentions that you are traveling the world “alone or online with friends.” There will also be elements of stealth and “seamlessly” connected dungeons to explore.

Prior to E3, it was unclear if the game would appear in any way. Publisher Bandai Namco’s E3 demo is scheduled for Tuesday June 15, but he hasn’t made any promises about what we’ll see there – whether it’s Elden Ring or anything else. The appearance of the new Elden Ring teaser is exciting as Bandai Namco and From have been very quiet about the project since it was first unveiled back at E3 2019. The leaked videos earlier this year appeared on the net, but they were of very low quality and were allegedly from older versions that were no longer representative of the game.

Elden Ring is the result of a collaboration between From Software and A Song of Ice and Fire / Game of Thrones creator George R.R. Martin, who consulted From on the game’s history. The game will be released on PC, PS4, Xbox One, PS5 and Xbox Series X | S. A free upgrade to PS5 will be available for PS4 players, while Xbox versions will offer Smart Delivery support.
