Free game KartRider: Drift announced for PS4

Nexon’s upcoming kart racing game, KartRider: Drift, is coming to PS4, as PlayStation announced today during the State of Play launch. The free game will also be beta testing in December.

KartRider: Drift is the latest in a kart racing series that dates back to 2004 with the Crazyracing Kartrider, which was available mainly in Southeast Asia. This new game is also in development for PC, Xbox One and Xbox Series X | S, and it will support cross-play and cross-progression across all platforms.

The closed beta version of the game will be released on PS4 on December 8th. It will feature two modes, seven playable characters, and various customization options. Item Mode features team-based competitions in which items on tracks allow players to attack and defend. On the other hand, the speed limit emphasizes fast driving and accelerating construction.

Nexon says a beta subscription will soon be available on its website. Both the game and the beta will likely be playable on PS5 due to backward compatibility. It is currently slated for a full launch on PC and Xbox this year and PS4 next year, although Nexon has yet to give a specific date.
