The summer movie season is rapidly approaching, and with it the return of summer blockbusters to cinemas. One such highly anticipated film is Jurassic World: Domination. The final installment of the Jurassic World film trilogy hits theaters in June, and director Colin Trevorrow recently spoke about one of the new dinosaurs fans will see in the film.
As part of the Empire cover story, Trevorrow introduced the Giganotosaurus – or Giga for short – along with an image of the new threat that the film’s characters would face. While Giga might seem like one of the new trilogy’s hybrid dinosaurs, like the Indominus Rex, this dinosaur comes from a very real place. This is a scientifically confirmed giant dinosaur from the late Cretaceous period. Apparently, this is not a friendly dinosaur. This dangerous image can be seen in the image that accompanies Giga, which shows the dinosaur standing on top of a yellow overturned car, very reminiscent of the classic jeeps from Jurassic Park. All of our favorite characters like Ian Malcolm and Alan Grant are hiding behind this car. This is not a beast to be trifled with as it has definitely earned its name.
Whatever it was, it will be a very different film compared to the rest of this iconic franchise. The latest film, Fallen Kingdom, brought dinosaurs into the world, and Trevorrow has compared the upcoming film to a spy thriller in the past. Judging by the trailers filled with crazy action like dinosaur bike chases, that’s an accurate description. With the return of BioSyn, this trilogy-ending film looks set to come full circle. Plus, given that this will be the longest film in the franchise, fans are in for a real treat. And the formidable appearance of Gigi only reinforces this jubilant feeling.
Jurassic World: Dominion ends this era of the franchise on June 10, 2022. You can check out the new dinosaur-focused image of the movie below:
