Today, Kojima Productions big boss Hideo Kojima put an end to speculation about a possible acquisition of Sony. This speculation was fueled by a PlayStation Studios banner showing Kojima Productions’ Death Stranding game, which of course started the usual rumor mill.
Everything fell into place when Hideo Kojima himself posted the banner on Twitter about an hour ago, throwing the community into even more confusion. After that, the developer mentioned that his previous tweet may have misled some, and stated that Kojima Production was and will remain an independent studio.
You may be wondering why Death Stranding is featured in the PlayStation Studios banner, and the solution is pretty simple. PlayStation Studios published the game, much like Microsoft Flight Simulator is published by Xbox, but developed by independent Asobo Studios.
In case you’re not familiar with Hideo Kojima, he’s mostly known for the Metal Gear Solid franchise. After leaving Konami in 2015, he founded the independent studio Kojima Productions.
The director’s cut of Death Stranding is available on PC and PlayStation 5 worldwide.
