Hotfix #21 is now available for Baldur’s Gate 3


Larian Studios releases hotfix #21 for RPG Baldur’s Gate 3which fixes bugs and crashes.

Read the full notes below:


  • Fixed a bug that occurred when changing the selected character multiple times.
  • The game no longer crashes when you move items to the hotbar and put them in your inventory.
  • The game no longer crashes if you try to join a multiplayer session with no characters to control. Now you will not be able to join the session.
  • The game no longer crashes when the Explore panel is open and you try to resize the game window.
  • The game no longer crashes in the splash screen of Raphael’s camp in the House of Hope.
  • The game will no longer crash when hovering over the Spider Egg Pouch icon after opening the pouch. However, call Larian Support immediately if spiders start crawling out of your monitor.
  • Fixed an issue where the sound system would crash the game during several cinematics.
  • Fixed a crash that occurred when arranging items.
  • Fixed a rare error that occurred when using the ‘Group Sneak’ command.
  • Fixed a rare error that occurred when using Hotbar slots.
  • Fixed a rare bug related to the camera in cinematics.
  • Fixed a rare bug related to animation sampling.


  • Entering turn-based mode with filtered view enabled no longer blocks all filtered actions and spells.
  • You can now interact with containers (open or abandoned) as soon as you pick them up and place them in your inventory.
  • Containers now close after you drop an item into them.
  • Fog of War on the map no longer resets if you reload a save after encountering a gith patrol.
  • Mid-game resolution changes no longer cause the minimap to rotate incorrectly when the in-game camera is rotated.
  • A successful saving throw is now correctly reflected if the character breaks out of the effect of Disgusting Laughter.
  • Battlestaff now works with Activate Witch Bolt and the wearer now gains 2 Lightning Bolts when using a spell or sorcery as intended. This will also activate Lightning Burst.
  • Watersparker boots now only electrify water surfaces in combat.


  • Improved dirt and lighting on characters in the game.
  • Fixed incorrect spell animations appearing.
  • Fixed Weezer’s face model in all of his cutscenes.
  • Fixed lighting and shadow issues for Daisy in Create a Character, who had bright red nose, lips, and ears.
  • You can now correctly hear Shadowheart’s voice when she’s stuck in a Nautiloid Pod.
  • Fixed several cases of dialogs and cutscenes looping.
  • Fixed several other minor cinematic issues.
  • Fixed several Vulkan validation bugs related to DLSS integration.


  • You can now place items on the custom hotbar.
  • You can now drag and drop items into your character’s inventory, even if it’s completely empty.
  • Basic actions in wild form no longer have duplicates in the hotbar.
  • Item icons no longer overlap in the same slot in your inventory if you are trying to equip an item that is already equipped by another character.
  • The context menu of an item can now be opened in the character’s inventory when it is on the character sheet and squad panel.
  • Inventory slots no longer change position and size if the slot is filled with an item.
  • The filter UI no longer blocks the view in the middle of a movie if you use an element from a filtered view.
  • Fighter Class Traits icons no longer reset to their original position in the hotbar after reloading a save.
  • If you have followers or conscripts, splitting the item stack in the party bar no longer causes portraits to suddenly overlap the UI.
  • Concentration spell tooltips no longer show the tooltip of an empowered spell. Sure, being able to cast spells makes us all feel powerful, but that may have been overkill.
  • Two-handed weapon equipment is now obscured by the off-hand weapon slot on the character sheet.
  • Portraits will no longer break for players who have been reassigned to another character in multiplayer.
  • Fixed graphic settings for DLSS and FSR in the Options menu.
  • Fixed issues with enabling SMAA graphics settings in the Options menu.
  • Level up buttons now make a click.
  • Fixed some cases where tutorial highlights were misaligned on the hotbar.

Baldur’s Gate 3 is available on PC in Early Access, with a full release expected no earlier than 2023.
