Mary Elizabeth Winstead has joined the cast of the Disney+ spin-off Ahsoka.
Tano first appeared in the Star Wars universe in 2008 in the animated feature film Star Wars: The Clone Wars and its follow-up animated series of the same name. Rosario Dawson, who played the role of the heroine, first appeared on the screen in the 13th chapter of “The Mandalorian” under the name “Jedi”. In this episode, she fought alongside the Mandalorian and told him Grog’s real name. Although she was not seen again in the series, she made a big impression that would serve as the basis for her own solo series.
According to THR, Mary Elizabeth Winstead will join the cast of Ahsoka, which has yet to enter production. Her role has not yet been specified. Winstead will star alongside Star Wars newcomers Ivanna Sakhno and Natasha Liu Bordizzo, as well as Hayden Christensen, who will reprise his role as Anakin Skywalker in Star Wars Episode II: Attack of the Clones and Episode III: Revenge of the Sith.
Winstead is no stranger to roles in sci-fi films. After her first role as Ramona Flowers in Scott Pilgrim vs. the World, she fought aliens in The Thing and 10 Cloverfield Lane. She also acquitted herself well in action movies, most recently in Birds of Prey, in which she played the Huntress, a ruthless avenging angel who goes on to become one of the titled Birds of Prey.
