We already have A World of Ice and Fire, which brings George R.R. Martin’s dark fantasy saga to Mount and Blade: Warband. It was inevitable that some ambitious modder would try to bring the treacherous lands of Westeros into the sequel to TaleWorlds’ medieval life sim.
But this inevitability doesn’t make Realm of Thrones any less impressive. Released yesterday in Early Access, the Full Conversion offers a thorough overhaul. In particular, the mod takes Bannerlord to the universe of A Song of Ice and Fire during the War of the Five Kings. In other words, the point in history where all the major factions are in the game.
Key features include a massive main map that adds all of Westeros and “most” of Essos – Game of Thrones’ eastern continent “liberated” by Daenerys Targaryen. The new map includes 17 new cities and 80 villages, major landmarks such as King’s Landing and Winterfell, and 18 new kingdoms that cover most of the core players in Game of Thrones for the Iron Throne. The mod even has some simulation of life in the far north, where “Hundreds of Dead” roam behind the wall.
You can check out the full list of Realm of Thrones features here, or download the current build from the same page and check it out for yourself. Obviously, you will need a copy of Mount and Blade II to run it. The creator of the mod, Carolina Warlord, also has a channel in Discordwhich you can join, and Patreon to support the ongoing development of the mod.
