New footage from Doctor Strange: In the Multiverse of Madness reveals more about Stephen Strange’s arrest.
Benedict Cumberbatch is returning to the MCU after his appearance in Spider-Man: No Way Home. This time around, in his second standalone movie, Strange will presumably suffer the consequences of his decision to help Peter Parker (Tom Holland), which ended with the opening of the Multiverse.
Marvel Studios revealed the first footage of the upcoming sequel in a post-credit scene for Spider-Man: No Way Home, but it was during the Super Bowl that the first full trailer for Doctor Strange: Into the Multiverse of Madness was released. This marked the start of the film’s marketing period, and more information about the project has since been made public. This includes the debut of America Chavez (Sochil Gomez) and the role of Wanda Maximoff/Scarlet Witch (Elizabeth Olsen) in the story, as it looks like she and Doctor Strange will have a more contentious dynamic. And finally, the potential introduction of the Illuminati into the MCU with the confirmed return of Professor X Patrick Stewart.
As part of an extensive feature on Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, Empire Magazine has released new promotional images from the film. They focus on Strange’s arrest after he played his part in the events of Spider-Man: No Way Home. Interestingly, he meets Chavez while in a glass chamber. Check out the images below:
It’s hard to predict what’s really going on in these images without any context. However, it’s safe to say that they are all part of the same segment of Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. Strange is arrested, as shown in the trailer, and introduced to what many assume is the MCU Illuminati.
The film will be released in the US on May 6, 2022. The tape will become part of Hfourth phase of the CME.
