Amazon has released a new music video for Reacher, the upcoming multi-part adaptation of Lee Child’s Jack Reacher novels starring Alan Ritchson as the action hero. The first season of Reacher will be an adaptation of Childe’s first novel, Floor of Death.
Jack Reacher’s novels are about a retired military police officer who becomes embroiled in investigating crimes involving people in high positions. In the first book, Reacher is framed for murder in the small town of Margrave, Georgia, where he is trying to lead a peaceful life.
The new video allows us to see the entire fight scene in the prison. And it’s great! Ritchson uses his imposing size to crack down on a welcoming committee that he and another prisoner are meeting in the closet. And everything looks quite decent, this is certainly not the level of the film “Raid”, but apparently we are waiting for a very good action movie.
Jack Reacher’s books were adapted for film in 2012 and 2016, starring Tom Cruise. The two films, which adapted Jack Reacher’s ninth and eighteenth novels respectively, failed to resonate with critics despite favorable box office performance. By showing Jack Reacher’s journey since its inception, the Amazon series has a chance to present the character in the best possible light, while also ensuring that they can release new seasons if the series is successful.
The series is written and showrunnered by Emmy-nominated author Nick Santora. Santora worked on the hit drama Prison Break and won an Emmy for Most Dangerous Game in 2020, which means he’s used to dealing with thrillers filled with action and crime structures. The Reacher cast also includes Malcolm Goodwin, Willa Fitzgerald, Chris Webster, Hugh Thompson, Maria Sten, Harvey Guillen, Christine Hook, Curry Graham, Mark Bendavid, Willie K. Carpenter, Maxwell Jenkins and Bruce McGill.
The eight-episode first season of Reacher will premiere exclusively on Prime Video on February 4, 2022. Check out the new clip below.
