New screenshots from the canceled Doom 4 in the style of Call of Duty

In case you didn’t know, id Software was working on a Call of Duty-inspired Doom game (before scrapping it in favor of a Doom 2016 reboot). And yesterday surfaced new screenshots.

These new screenshots showcase the resistance soldier (which Blur Studio used in the unreleased Doom 4 trailer). These shots can give you an idea of the game’s direction and art style.

Doom 4 was originally set on Earth, and the gameplay mechanics were similar to those found in the Call of Duty games. During development, id Software felt this was wrong and decided to cancel it in order to create a game that was closer to the classic Doom games.

While it doesn’t look impressive, it’s nonetheless curious to see how it turns out.
