New Star Wars adventure game in development by Lucasfilm and Skydance New Media

Today, New Media spokesperson Amy Hennig revealed that Skydance will be working with Lucasfilm to develop and produce “a highly cinematic adventure game with an original story set in the legendary Star Wars galaxy.” News of the Star Wars project comes months after the October Skydance New Media announced the development of the Marvel game.

I’ve often talked about how watching Star Wars in 1977 essentially rewired my 12-year-old brain, shaping my creative life and future. I am happy to be working with Lucasfilm Games again to tell interactive stories in the galaxy I love.

This is the second significant project announced for the game studio, which was created by Hennig, best known for his work on Naughty Dog’s Uncharted and Jak and Daxter games, and veteran producer Julian Beek. Since its founding in 2019, New Media has assembled a team of developers with decades of experience in the world of AAA games. The studio has also assembled a diverse team of creative consultants from the worlds of film, television and comics.

Although the project in development is Skydance New Media’s second major initiative, Star Wars has long been dipping its toe into the gaming world with the release of the Lego Star Wars franchise, Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, and Star Wars Battlefront, among others.
