New update for Baldur’s Gate 3 features twelve pages of patch notes and the Barbarian class

Baldur’s Gate 3 is slow but confidently approaching version 1.0. The seventh major update for the game was announced today. Players will get a ton of fixes and a new playable class.

Developers from Larian Studios held another Panel From Hell broadcast, where they presented seventh global patch for Baldur’s Gate 3. The update will be released under the subtitle “Absolute Frenzy”, it will bring a lot of fixes and various additions to the game, among which the class – Barbarian.

Barbarian (Barbarian) will be the last global class in Baldur’s Gate 3. The new class will include two subclasses that are familiar to Dungeons & Dragons fans.

  • Barbarian Wildheart (Wildheart Barbarians) – uses the Heart of the Beast, which can inspire, protect and guide a squad of heroes.
  • Berserker Barbarians – Use pure rage that sends them into Frenzy states, which grants two new bonus actions. Rage Throw deals additional damage to enemies and makes them face down, while Frenzied Strike allows the berserkers to attack twice using a bonus action such as Improvised Weapon.

improvised weapons is another new mechanic available in the seventh patch. Now almost any object can become a deadly long-range projectile that can be thrown at your opponents. Damage from a hit with such a weapon will depend on the weight of the thrown object and the strength indicator. The developers singled out Throwing weapons in a separate category. Throwing daggers, spears, hand axes and spears have been added to the game to make battles more dynamic. Also, during the passage of the game, it will now be possible to find new magic-level equipment with good characteristics and useful properties.

The seventh update will bring the “fog of war” mechanic to Baldur’s Gate 3, which will significantly affect secrecy. According to the developers, stealth will now become a more effective tactical weapon in the hands of the player. In the patch, the perception of lighting by the characters was reworked. Now it will be much easier for your squad to hide in a room without light, and the characters will be less likely to miss, with good lighting. Heroes with the Night Vision Passive will now see in the dark with a cone of vision effect.

Among the useful innovations, the authors note updated user interface. According to the lead developer of Baldur’s Gate 3, the new interface has become more intuitive for players. Some elements have been simplified and streamlined to make it as easy to use as possible.

According to Larian Studios, this is not all the changes in the seventh patch. The entire list of update notes will take about 12 pages. Separately, the authors highlighted visual improvements, which include 700 redesigned cut scenes, updated effects and animations.
