There has been a lot of activity around the NieR series lately. Despite the fact that NieR: Automata has not yet received a full-fledged sequel, the franchise is replenished with mobile games and other projects. Square Enix’s recent activity gives hope that the company hasn’t forgotten about big-budget games either.
Western journalists drew attention to the updated register of trademarks in Europe. It was found a new registration from Square Enix, which has secured the trademark “4 YoRHa”. This term first appeared in NieR: Automata and is used to refer to the elite military unit of androids, where the main character 2B was listed. Perhaps Square Enix is working on a sequel or spin-off that will be closely related to YoRHa.
Players urge not to overestimate expectations from a possible announcement. The fact is that often the registration of trademarks can be an exclusively legal necessity. In addition, “4 YoRHa” appears in the name of a cosmetic add-on for NieR Replicant.
