Obi-Wan Kenobi star Rupert Friend teases cameos and Easter eggs in new Star Wars series

The actor plays the Grand Inquisitor in the Disney Plus series, as evidenced in the first trailer. In the series, Obi-Wan Kenobi, played by Ewan McGregor, meets him 10 years after the events of Revenge of the Sith.

In an interview with Hey U Guys, Friend said:

If you can be even more excited than those who are already excited, it’s me. I think this is one of the most exciting additions to the Star Wars canon. I think Ewan McGregor does with this role what fans of the original films dream of. We can’t bring Alec Guinness back, but I think Ewan was just born for the role. And great cameos from people that I can’t tell you about of course, but there are a lot of Easter eggs and it’s going to be an exciting ride.

Easter eggs and cameos have long been present in the Star Wars series, but their confirmation cannot but rejoice. Who will appear on the show alongside McGregor and Friend is yet to be seen, but Rosario Dawson’s Ahsoka Tano seems like a solid option given her animated adventures with Obi-Wan in The Clone Wars. We probably won’t see Darth Maul again, as the Sith Lord was reportedly removed from the series after a creative overhaul.

Obi-Wan Kenobi is scheduled to air on May 27th.
