Publisher 505 Games has announced that a sequel to Ghostrunner is in development for PS5, Xbox Series X | S and PC. The publisher has not announced a release date for the upcoming game, but has confirmed that One More Level, the studio behind the original title, is developing Ghostrunner 2.
In a press release, 505 announced that it was doubling its investment in the sequel and contributing an “initial budget” of € 5 million (about $ 6 million) to develop it. “Ghostrunner is a brand with tremendous potential to contribute to the 505 Games portfolio over the long term,” said the publisher.
“We’re especially excited about the upcoming release of Ghostrunner 2. Together with One More Level, we’ve created an immersive and fun video game,” said Raffaele Galante, co-CEO of Digital Bros., 505’s parent company, in a press release.
The original Ghostrunner was released in October 2020 and was a great commercial success for 505 Games, selling over 600,000 copies on PS4, Xbox One, PC, and Nintendo Switch. The game is slated for release on PS5 and Xbox Series X by the end of this year | S.
