According to rumors Fallout New Vegas 2 is at a “very early stage of negotiations in Microsoft. At least that’s what the well-known insider and writer Jeff Grubb says that the developer Obsidian can create a continuation of the classic role-playing game.
People started talking and saying these words in sentences, and those words are “Obsidian” and “New Vegas 2”. It’s about years and years. At least there is interest and talk about making something like this a reality. A lot of people at Microsoft think this could work, and there’s a lot of interest in making it happen.
Fallout: New Vegas is a 2010 RPG developed by Obsidian Entertainment and published by Bethesda Softworks. The game is an offshoot of the series Fallout and covers the region consisting of Arizona, California, and Nevada.
In 2013 Obsidian CEO Fergus Urquhart said:
Oh, we would love to do Fallout: New Vegas 2. That would be amazing. When it comes to the transition from Fallout 1 to Fallout 2, we’ve tried to tie the two together a bit more tightly. It wasn’t just “Oh, we’re going to make it 2,000 miles away.” So I think if we were doing Fallout: New Vegas 2 – or just a new Fallout – we would probably separate it from what the internal Bethesda team does. We would have left him on the West Coast because we are West Coast people. They’re from the East Coast, so it makes sense.
Microsoft acquired Obsidian in 2018. The corporation then acquired ZeniMax Media, the parent company Bethesda Softworks in 2021.
As a result of the move, Xbox Game Studios grew from 15 to 23 development teams by adding Bethesda Game Studios, id Software, ZeniMax Online Studios, Arkane, MachineGames, Tango Gameworks, Alpha Dog and Roundhouse Studios.
