valve released new support information Steam Deckwhich includes support AMD FidelityFX Super Resolution (FSR) for all games in the Steam library, which means that it can also be used for games that do not have native support.
According to the FAQ, at launch, FSR will only be available on the Steam Deck for apps that support it. However, once the console launches, Valve’s goal is to implement FSR support with a firmware update.
“FSR is already available for some applications that support it. Games that are already compatible will work with FSR on Steam Deck, but FSR support will be implemented in a future OS update,” reads the FAQ. “When that time comes, games will potentially be able to use FSR even if they don’t natively support the feature.”
AMD FSR is a technology that improves performance without sacrificing visual quality. In fact, the frames are rendered at a lower resolution and scaled using an algorithm, which saves processing power.
Steam Deck will officially debut on February 25th. Valve recently announced a dynamic save sync feature that makes it easy to switch between Steam Deck and PC.
