The new origin coming to Stellaris with the Overlord expansion is called the Shroud Masters. It’s mysterious, but fits perfectly with the theme of the Overlord expansion – space manipulation. This origin will allow you to play as a state of psionics, it is available exclusively to spiritualists and is closed to machines.
With this lineage, your civilization is treated as if it already had the Ascension perk “Mind Over Matter”, which means Transcendence is just around the corner. On the other hand, you cannot follow a synthetic or biological ascension, as is usually the case.
Either way, it will give the galaxy a darker and more brooding sense of mystery that it needs.
