The RPCS3 team has released an all-new version of their Playstation 3 emulator that brings significant performance improvements to a number of games.
In more detail, Nekotekina has optimized the performance of the SPU by eliminating SPU bottlenecks across the board, allowing more efficient use of the RSX (PS3 GPU). Metal Gear Solid 4 saw the biggest improvement with this change, with most users seeing a 25-50% performance boost.
With these improvements, Red Dead Redemption now runs 5-20% faster. However, there are still some performance issues in the cities, which is why the game is not labeled “playable” yet.
Also, kd-11 is already working on another RSX improvement, this time on Zcull performance. Early testing showed another huge boost in Metal Gear Solid 4 and other games.
Finally, kd-11 also solved an NVIDIA-specific physics issue that affected Uncharted 1 and 2.
As always, you can download the latest version of RPCS3 from official site.
